Takashi Okazaki's Afro Samurai is one of the few. Afro Samurai is a young man raised by his father, Rokutaro, who holds the title of the number one headband. A man named Justice has the number two headband title. While Rokutaro and Afro are walking on their journey, Rokutaro is challenged to a fight by Justice for the number one headband. Afro witnessed the battle, and while it seems Rokutaro is winning, he is beheaded instantly by Justice. Rokutaro, with his last word being faint but very clear to Afro, was not to avenge his death. Justice takes the headband from Rokutaro's decapitated head and taunts Afro about his father's defeat, and challenges Afro to a fight anytime Afro is ready. In order to be eligible to fight justice, who now holds the number one headband. Afro needs the number two headband, and he spends his childhood and teen years looking for the one who possesses the number two headband, killing and beating those to a pulp who stands in his way; because of this, he gains a reputation for being feared or being hated leading him to have many enemies who seek to kill him. Afro’s journey is far from easy but tests him physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Takashi Okazaki's Afro Samurai anime has two new manga comics director-cut editions that will drop later this year. Vol 1 is to be released on November 15, 2022, & Volume 2 will be released on December 13, 2022.
